Description

NuWave DIY Boat Shrink Wrap Kit

Everything you need to get started shrink wrapping your own boat, in one place.

Please read carefully before ordering! This is a "buildable" kit and starts out as just a roll of shrink wrap, until you select everything else that is needed.

Our Wrap is 7 Mil and the highest quality on the market. Depending on size and stock, we may ship Dr.Shrink or Husky.

Choosing Your Wrap Size: Remember to factor in for Windshields, flybridges, arches, and t-tops.

Width = (Beam + Height + Height + 2ft).

Length = Overall boat length, dont forget about pulpits and motors!

Film Width Boat Beam Notes
12 up to 7 Good for low windshield
14 up to 8 Better for full windshield
17 up to 8.5 Common for pontoon and cabin cruisers
20 up to 8.5 Express cruiser
24 up to 9
Express cruiser with arch or small flybridge
28 up to 10 Tall flybridge/top
32 up to 11 Wide boat with tall flybridge or arch

Choosing a heat gun:

  • Dr Shrink is a great affordable gun, but it is mostly plastic. This will do the job perfectly fine, but we dont suggest it if you plan on doing lots of boats every year. The case is cheaply made and the lining often tears in shipping. Regardless, we still like the tool ince its affordable and works well.
  • Shrinkfast is a shop quality gun at a great price. If you plan on doing all of your friends boats, or just want something that is a little bit nicer quality, this is your tool.

Heat Tool Extensions: Hit the high spots with ease. Not a cheap addition, and you probably dont need it if you just do one boat per year.

Tape:

  • Serrated (Easy tear) is your standard shrink wrap tape. We suggest 4 inch wide as a good all around tape. You can use this connect sections, repair holes etc.
  • Hull Preservation is for taping the wrap to your hull. Not everyone does this, but some situations will require it. This tape is designed to not leave any residue.

Strapping: This is used to anchor your wrap. Check out the videos at the bottom of this page.

Cutting Tool: A simple safe way to cut your wrap. Trust us, scissors and knives are a pain.

Buckles: For connecting the strap sections

Tensioning Tool: Makes tightening the strap much easier than doing it by hand.

Vents: For keeping the boat properly ventilated. Boats up to 20ft should have 4 vents, 20-30ft should have 6 vents, 30-40ft should have 8 vents.

Support top and bottom caps: Use these with a 2x4 at the mid point of your boat to keep water from pooling when it rains or snows.
